FAQs

  1. I noticed you don't, like many other designers, post a per page price for your work. Why is that?

We do custom work. We don't usually take stock graphics for our pages. We don't use templates or web site development programs (like HotDog™ or FrontPage™). Every page we do is individually tailored to our client's needs. As we are sure you understand, we cannot provide standard pricing for custom work. We would, however, be most pleased to provide you with an estimate if you give us some details about your web site requirements. For a better understanding on costing practices, please read the WEBAware article entitled Costing Your Web Site.

  2. Would you consider undertaking our web site on a partnership or reduced cost basis?

No. We are a business and we have families who, just like yours, have to eat and just like you we have to pay rent. Our prices are already very competitive. To discount these prices would mean we would not be able to be around to serve you next year - and that wouldn't be any good at all!

  3. We're in our first year of business and it's costing us a lot of personal money to get our business off the ground but we promise to let you charge your full rate for future work.

Sorry - setting up your web presence is part of your start-up costs. We don't profit from your site. Our business is based on you as the client, not your clients. To sum up, once again, in order to benefit from a reduced rate from Web Site Design by Galganov you must be a registered non-profit organization. In addition to this criteria the decision to undertake a reduced rate contract is undertaken on a case-by-case basis, at our sole discretion.

  4. We noticed that you have a link back to your site at the bottom of all the pages you do. Why is that?

These are more than just "links" to us. They are our signature. We take a lot of pride in the work we do. We also take responsibility for the quality of these sites. When you buy a Galganov site you are buying a site that we stand behind! What better a way for us to stand behind this "brand name" than to put our name on it?

  5. Lots of site developers own the copyright on sites they do for their clients. You put your name on all your clients pages but ownership, according to the footer on your clients' pages, belongs to your clients. Isn't that a bit contradictory?

Not at all! We don't work for ourselves, we work for our clients. When we do a site for them, it is for them, not us. Our time is paid for and the end product belongs to the person who pays the bill. We sign every page but that doesn't mean we own them. Think of it like a painting. You own the piece of art but the artist's name appears on it as a testimony to his/her pride in his/her accomplishment.

  6. On your pricing page you say that you take a retainer for every job you do. Why is that?

The answer is simple. Virtually all our work is labour. There is nobody who finances parts of our job through giving us credit to carry materials. Additionally, it is our experience that a retainer (or deposit - if you prefer) helps to solidify the client's commitment to completion. Invariably, we have seen that every client who has paid a deposit for their site has been quick and forthcoming with the information needed to complete the job. Inversely, virtually every client who has not made a deposit on their site has dawdled and dragged the process out.
